Women Rowing North: Mary Pipher’s New Bible For Boomer Women
December 12, 2018
Many of you are probably familiar with Dr. Mary Pipher, the noted psychologist who wrote the 2005 groundbreaking book on adolescent girls, Reviving Ophelia. Well, just in time for the new year, Dr. Pipher is at it again, though this time she has focused her expert eye on the life stages, and changes, of women as they get older. Women Rowing North: Navigating Life’s Currents and Flourishing As We Age has already been lauded as “bound to become the bible of baby boomer women.” Due out in bookstores on January 15th, this new volume promises to provide guidance and support to women as they face the cultural and developmental issues of aging in today’s world.
And if there’s room on your Kindle, you may also want to jump on the bandwagon of a different upcoming book by another noteworthy woman. This one is by 77-year-old Martha Stewart, and it’s called The Martha Manual: How To Do (Almost) Everything. For many, Martha’s writing represents a different kind of “bible,” a little less lofty but a lot more practical when you’re in a pinch. And for those who can’t live without her, you may want to subscribe to her YouTube channel. With food for the soul or for the stomach, you won’t go wrong with either of these new books.
