Straightforward And Simple: Cosmetic And Skin Products For Mature Faces
July 14, 2021
Given the summer heat and your lagging makeup skills from months without coloring or caring, you’re likely wondering if it’s even necessary to wear makeup at this point or to spend the time (and money) on a multitude of products. While we’ve previously profiled experts and consumers who have tried to straddle the line between a bare and a bold “face,” the reality is most of us continue to struggle with how much skincare and makeup do we really need (or want) and how should our product selections evolve as our skin matures and changes.
That’s why a recent post from That’s Not My Age caught our attention, as it sings the praises of a relatively new cosmetic brand from Canada called 19/99. The vibe of the brand is “for those who want to define their own style and don’t give a shit about what’s considered appropriate.” The website features real images of women of all ages, wrinkles, puffy circles, and all, and as the name suggests, the products are considered appropriate for all people ages 19 through 99. The founders strongly believe that “age should not define our idea of beauty” while also promoting the concept of multi-use products that can work on all skin types and tones. So, one pencil, many functions and it’s one and done. Straightforward and simple. To find out more about this new minimalist and modern line, watch here.
And speaking of straightforward, a recent article in The Telegraph spotlights what it says are 6 essential products that every woman over 50 needs. With the goal of streamlining your bathroom counter, the post highlights a new online skin-consultation website GetHarley whose “skin concierge” will connect you with a trained professional expert to sort and purge your products and needs down to some essential skin and cosmetic products. Currently based in the UK, here’s hoping that an American version opens up soon. To find out more, pull out your makeup mirror and click here.
Finally, in keeping with our goal of occasionally recommending worthwhile products, we have a few essential selections of our own to recommend. For a foundation, consider L’Oreal Paris Visible Lift Serum Absolute Foundation– with retinol, vitamin C and SPF, this does double duty as both a skincare and makeup product. If you’re looking for one product to be used on your lips, eyes, cheeks and even body, consider the trio of sticks from BOOM! by Cindy Joseph Cosmetics. Finally, for a product to moisturize your lips while adding a burst of color, consider the 100% PURE Cocoa Butter Fruit Pigmented Matte Lipstick, available in a vibrant array of colors- because frankly, who gives a shi* if you want lips that “pop”- no matter your age or choice, it’s “appropriate.”
