For many of us, dating was never a fun experience. But for those who have reached “a certain age,” the question may become, why even bother? Statistics show that being single may be the new normal for those who have reached their 50s, 60s or beyond without a spouse or dedicated partner. In fact, surveys have shown that only 15% of divorced or widowed women even want to remarry. While men may be more inclined to want another spouse, women seem to prefer their freedom unless a partner would measurably enrich their lives. Are you single and no longer searching? Find out why you’re not alone here.
But for those of you who still want another try at “the brass ring,” or just want some friendly companionship, you may be intrigued to learn that “speed dating” has entered the realm of senior socializing. These days, there are all kinds of speed dating opportunities for seniors, as you can read here and here. There’s even a documentary, The Age of Love, that follows seniors in Rochester, New York, as they enter the speed dating arena. And if you think this method could never lead to love or marriage, get ready to smile and watch the story of Renee and Miles here.
