You may remember when she first came on the modeling scene in the early 1970s- a beautiful picture of “imperfection” with her gap-toothed smile and earthy sensibility. Lauren Hutton, now 75-years-old and the new global ambassador for the skincare company StriVectin has had a five-decade modeling career with only a brief pause when she turned 40 and was told “she was too old” to continue. Her proudest professional accomplishment? “Forcing my way at age 47 back into modeling.” From modeling underwear for Calvin Klein at age 73 to appearing on the Valentino runway this past season, Hutton is one glamorous example of embracing your age in a positive and smart way. For more photos from her past and present, check out her Facebook page here.
And for some additional older models who are well-endowed with both beauty and brains, check out this recent article from 303 Magazine about Denver-based models Howard Snooks and Judith Boyd. Both have style and confidence to match their looks and have taken to the runway and photoshoots as a way to be creative older role models well past the age of yesterday’s fashion models. They’ve tapped into a trend of companies and advertisers recognizing the value of mature models to appeal to aging customers, and Boyd has even taken to the web and social media to promote her love of style and passion about hats.
