November 28, 2018
As November comes to a close, it’s important that we remember that it’s National Family Caregiving Month, a moment when it’s critical to recognize the enormous time, effort and sacrifice that millions devote every day to taking care of loved ones.
It’s also important to recognize that no matter what your caregiving situation, there are resources out there that can provide you with valuable information, support and help to ease the burdens you bear and frustration you experience. For a terrific up-to-date list of valuable caregiver resources, check out this recent post from Better Health While Aging’s Dr. Leslie Kernisan, or check out the agebuzz list of Caregiving Helpful Resources. And for an up-close encounter of one caregiver’s experience, you need to read this just-published piece by former NPR war correspondent Jackie Lyden, who’s time in war zones paled in comparison to her ongoing stint as a caregiver for her ailing mom. And to all of you who are past or current family caregivers, thank you for what you do.
