Have A Good Trip: Advice For Your 2025 Journeys
February 26, 2025
So, have you been smitten with wanderlust yet this year? Or have you planned to get out of town to find some relaxation and rebuild your resilience given the stressors that are so commonplace these days? If you’re ready to go, there are lots of recommendations from those in the know about where to head. For example, AARP recently published a list of prime destinations for older adults in 2025. Among the recommendations, both domestic and foreign, are London (the 80th anniversary of V-E day coming up), Orlando, Florida (for the new Super Nintendo theme park), and Provence, France, a destination considered very friendly for older female travelers. Road Scholar has some favorites to recommend for 2025, including Spain or Japan for solo or group travel, and for adventure, they suggest Iceland or Canada.
Speaking of solo travel, while we highlighted the trend (especially among older women) in an earlier agebuzz post in 2024, it seems the trend will continue strong in 2025. United Airlines recently reported that they have tracked a surge in solo traveling among many age groups, including Baby Boomers, and destinations have included such exotic locations as China, Korea, India, and Brazil. NBC recently reported that among older women flush with disposable income, there continues to be growing interest in solo female traveling. Apparently, interest in travel among older solo travelers was found to be up 8% from last year, according to a market research firm. There are an ever-expanding number of travel websites and agencies that are happy to craft female-only groups for solo women travelers or for small groups of older women who wish to travel together. For example, Uniworld Boutique River Cruises is running a women-only cruise in August 2025 to Burgundy and Provence which will include a celebrity female host!
Other entities have also cropped up to accommodate the needs and interests of older female travelers. There’s Wander Tours, which attracts a wide range of individuals including older solo female travelers, mother-daughters, sisters, friends as well as partners and spouses. Or perhaps you’d be interested in the travel agency Girls Guide to The World, which welcomes solo female travelers with the slogan, “Arrive as strangers, leave as friends.” If you’re looking to connect with nature, there’s Natural Habitat Adventures, which partners with the World Wildlife Fund to create conservation-oriented adventures and reports strong interest from older female travelers. Finally, for a travel company dedicated to women over 45 seeking adventure, there’s Sisterhood Travels, which reports that 85% of their clients are women traveling solo, either due to divorce, death or just having a spouse who doesn’t share their travel goals.
Regardless of where you go, the plan should be for enjoyment along with safety. For some good advice on how to avoid the pickpockets and street scams that can ruin an otherwise great vacation, strap on your money belt and click here.
