Delivering For Dad: Some Gift Options For Father’s Day Celebrations
Delivering For Dad: Some Gift Options For Father’s Day Celebrations
June 5, 2024
So, we’re approaching Father’s Day 2024 ( Sunday, June 16th) and for many of us, there are dads, fathers-in-law, granddads, spouses, uncles, brothers, or just special men in our lives that we want to celebrate and thank. June is also Men’s Health Month, and there may be no better way to celebrate and appreciate that special guy in your life than to help him stay as healthy as possible. Several available books may help serve that purpose, including the Senior Health and Wellness series of 8 books, many of which focus specifically on men’s health, including gut health, men’s health for those over 60, prostate health, and longevity. You can purchase the entire set of 8 books on Kindle for less than $40. There’s also the newly published book Men: A Guide to Healthy Aging: 365 Ways to Stay Strong in Mind, Body, and Spirit available on Amazon. If your guy is more of a doer rather than a reader, then you can support his health and celebrate his Father’s Day with exercise equipment, such as free weights to help him maintain strength or a yoga mat, to help him stretch or do Yoga (perhaps sign him up with agebuzz’s yoga expert Louise Applebome’s zoom sessions!).
If your loved one is a foodie, and you want to indulge in a treat for him (while perhaps also steering him in the direction of healthier eating), consider the Father’s Day options available on the national food website Goldbelly. Or perhaps he’s less into food and more into history. There’s a unique service called Letterjoy that delivers copies of real letters, written by such historical figures as leaders from the military, the judiciary, politics, and science, via regular mail to your gift recipient. Also included with the letter is a well-researched article explaining the significance of the letter, and the author, in a historical context.
Of course, many well-known websites have large lists of gift suggestions you can peruse. For example, Katie Couric has an array of Father’s Day gift guides, including one specifically geared toward “grandpas.” Oprah Winfrey’s website also published a list of great gifts for guys, and Daily Caring has a large list specifically intended to delight older men. Finally, there are always vetted and quality suggestions from The New York Times’s Wirecutter department, including one this year specifically for special Father’s Day items.
Of course, the ultimate present may just be your presence. Perhaps more than any other day, showing you care by being there may be the best gift of all.
